Feilding Meeting Opens Under Ideal Conditions The Easter meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club opened on Saturday under Ideal conditions. There was heavy rain on Friday night, but the morning broke fine and a perfect day followed. The course was in great order and though a trifle slow to begin with it got faster as the day progressed. There was a satisfactory attendance and enthusiasts were treated to some interesting racing. The Manchester Handicap was won by Mr. W. J. Wood’s Lord Quex gelding, Chopin, which accounted for the little-fancied Calamine and Moutoa Treasury in a fine finish. The Mangaone Handicap resolved itself into a contest between the Taranaki-owned Orapai and the imported Aston, Orapai prevailing in the last stride.
