Eau-de-Cologne for Comfort
When you are over-heated at a dance rub a few drops of eau-de-Cologne on hands and wrists, and apply a spot, behind each ear—you will find it wonderfully cooling and refreshing. Add a tablespoonful of eau-de-Col-ogne and one of white vinegar to a warm bath to impart an aromatic odour to the water, and make it restorative in effect. This bath is good, too, for taking away stiffness caused by unusual physical exercise. Before dressing for a dance, massago the feet and ankles with eau-de-Col-ogne, rubbing gently until the spirit is absorbed into the skin. Dust with talcum powder before putting on the stockings. This treatment will keep the feet cool and fresh all through the evening.
To give your hair a well-groomed appearance, pour into a saucer three drops of eau-de-Cologne, and a similar quantity of sweet almond oil, mix with the finger, then apply the liquid to the bristles of the hairbrush. Lay one thickness of old silk over the bristles, and brush the hair very lightly. The perfume and oil will impart a most attractive sheen, and will not make the hair too greasy beeause the silk will distribute the moisture evenly. To remedy a shiny nose, bathe in fairly hot water, dry, and rub in equal parts of eau-de-Cologne and rosewater. Let this stay on for a minute, remove the surplus with chamois leather, and powder as usual. Finally, you can remove discolouration from neck and throat with eau-de-Cologne and barley water, in equal parts. Apply after washing at night.
