Where the Curfew Still Rings
'Although the curfew bell was abolished in the seventeenth century there are still a few towns in England, which retain the old custom. At Ripon, in Yorkshire, San cl bach Cheshire, Chesham in Buckinghamshire, and Workingham Berkshire, a bell is rung or a horn blown to announce curfew each night.
