IN PROFITS

Times Cable. Received Monday, 9.30 p.m. LONDON, March 30.

The Times says there was a remarkable fall in the Cunard company’s net profits last year, which were £18,601 compared with £809,639 for 1929, which were a record. With the amount carried torwara this makes £413,867 available, ol which the preference dividend absorbes £135,000. The ordinary dividend has been passed, whereas 7£ per cent, was paid for the last three years. The report states that in addition to the depression the Atlantic traffic and the Australian .and New Zealand services were carried on under increasingly difficult conditions throughout the year owing to people’s reduced purchasing power, Australia’s tariff and the fall in the Exchange.
