Hoot Gibson at Tivoli

"The Concentratin’ Kid,” —that’s Hoot Gibson and when ho concentrates on something he wants —well ho gets it. However, there is usually more than just plain, placid concentration. The Kid always expected a few hard fights to clinch the deal and ho meets plen.tv of opposition. Tloot Gibson, the peer of riders and ropers, is seen at his best in ‘ : The Concentratin’ Kid.” Chuched full of thrills, action, and unexpected adventure together with rare cowboy humour, the Aim docs not lack interest, and the plot, unfolds with rapid, surefire motion. The story concerns itself with a cowboy who is very much in 'ovc with a radio singer whom he has never seen, and the complications that, result from their romance and a group of cattle rustlers. The sitorv works up to a swift, elimateric finish, that, leaves ono almost breathless. The action is intense, calling for high pressure action on the part, of the cast. Throughout the picture there arc scenes of hardriding cow-punchers, hand-to-hand fights and gun play —a sure delight, for Uioso who like lively western pictures. The role of the radio girl is played by Kathryn Crawford, a beautiful and talented singer, who came to the screen from the musical comedy stage. Her singing of ”1 Want My Man of the Golden West” is one of the highlights of the film. Sydney Howard, the Yorkshire comedian who rose to fame overnight,, through his very successful interpretation of the frozen-faced comedian in “Splinters” has caused fresh laurels to be added to his crown for the perfect rendering of a very difficult role in the latest, scream, “French Leave,” which is due at the Tivoli Theatre tomorrow. One of the many humorous incidents with which the film abounds is when Howard renders a“Mammy Song”- that is guaranteed to put Al Jolson and “Sonny B'ov’’ to shame. During the renditions of this ditty, what Howard lacks in vocal qualities he makes up in vigour.
