Notes of the Day

Before Mr. J. L. Stout; S.M., in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Mary Waugh, of Palmerston North, proceeded against Thomas Waugli, of Kimbolton, - on a maintenance order under which defendant was alleged to bo £44 7/8 in arrears. Defendant applied for a variation of the order. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate, reduced the order to 30/- a week. Defendant was sentenced to three months’ hard labour, the warrant to bo suspended as long as current maintenance payments wci’o made.
