United States’ Export Loss

An analysis of motor exports from the U.S.A. for the first six months of last year shows that car exports fell by 51.3 per cent, and commercial vehicles by 46.4 per cent. Australia remained the best individual buyer of trucks, though its purchases for the period dropped more than 50 per cent, compared with the first six months of 1929. Tho fall was from 10,821 units to 5137. Argentine also tumbled from 11,749 to 4744, and the United Kingdom duced its purchases from 8281 to 2544. To help balance this loss, many European countries, including Soviet Russia, increased their orders. The small States lumped together as “Other Countries” dived from 34,470 to 9937. In the passenger car section Australia was the greatest individual market loss to the U.S.A., falling fw"19.812 in 1929 to 3108 in 1930. Argentine dropped 50 per cent., Canada 55 per cent., the United Kingdom 50 per cent., South Africa 70 per cent,, India 50 per cent., New Zealand 76 per cent., and the “Other Countries” group 63 per cent.
