It is officially announced that the total receipts of the Grand National swcepstakc P are £1,755,963. The pnze money will be £1,181,815, including a first prize of £354,544, a. second of £177.272, and a third of £llß,Jol. < A great crowd awaited tho drawing. Women linguists, one with a knowledge of Chinese, were ready to communicate the results to all -parts of the world from which tickets came, but with the exception of ono South African all the drawers of horses were residents of BntaiMuch to Ireland’s disappointment, 13 horses, including seven probable runners, were drawn by Londoners, who are assured of a minimum of £l2Bl apiece. An Italian cafe keeper at Battersea'park, with 40 relatives, all shareholders, and a Lambeth grocer hold Mellcray’s Belle. The staff of the Y.M.C.A. hostel at Clapham road, despite the attitude of the institution regarding horse racing, hold Drinmond. The Y.M.C.A. points out that Drinmond was drawn by residents of the Clapham road hostel, many of whom are not members of the association.
