When Kitchener Sold Dates

The death recently took plane, at tho age of 80, of Mr. John Moles, who was known as the “Exmoor Caveman.” His cavern on the roadside near Dunkery Beacon was visited by hundreds of tourists. He fought in the 34th Foot Regiment in tho Afghan Mar, entered Kabul, and was with the detachment which, fighting in Tibet, forced its way into Lhasa, the “Forbidden City.” Mr. Moles fought under Lord Kitchener in tho Sudan. On one occasion ho accompanied Lord Kitchener when tho latter, disguised as a native date seller, ventured among the Dervishes to learn their plans.
