Keen Competition and Firm Market at the Sydney Wool Sales
United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. —Copyright. Received Tuesday, 9.30 p.m. SYDNEY, March 17. At the wool sales 10,286 bales were offered and 10,040 were sold, in addition to 265 disposed of privately. Under exceptionally keen competition the market ruled very firm at the previous day’s rates. Greasy merino sold at up to 23d. Strong Competition in London LONDON, March 16. At the wool sales to-day, 10,595 bales were offered, including 491 S from New Zealand. Approximately 95 per cent, were sold. The offerings of greasy Merino were principally of super style. There was an excellent selection of all crossbreds. Competition was strong at late rates. The New Zealand disposals included: Greasy crossbreds, Campbell Gleddhu, top price lid, average 104 d; Waituku 91d, 81 d; Hakoroa 9jd, 81(1. 'Bradford is marking time; quotations are very firm.
