Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mcnzies and son and Miss D. Menzics, of 2 Sale street, Napier, are staying with Mr. Bich. Marshall, Dixon’s line, Bunnythorpe.
Mr and Mrs. MeCloy and family, who were former residents of Tokomaru, and late of Napier, are the guests of Mr and Mrs. H. Hansen, at Tokomaru.
Mrs. Cadman, of Napier, is tho guest of Mr and Mrs. A. Claridge. - Mrs. Cadman. was ono of the unfortunate people who lost everything in the Napier earthquake.
Miss Luke, lato of 10 Lighthouse road, Napier, is staying with Mrs. Gudgeon, 40 King Edward Parade, Devon port, Auckland.
Mrs G. Mitford Taylor, of Seaview Terrace, Napier, whose house was damaged in the earthquake is at present in Foilding staying with her brother, Mr C. A. Mountfort.
Mr and Mrs. Waring Taylor, of Shannon, and their daughters,leave for Auckland to-day, from which port Miss Shirley Taylor leaves by tho lonic on Saturday ou a trip abroad.
Mrs. F. W. Triggs, of Napier; is staying with Mrs. Herbert King, Churcn street, Palmerston North. Her daughter, Mrs lan McKinnon, is staying with Dr. and Mrs. Cyril King, Fitzlierneri avenue and Miss Enid Triggs has gon« to Mrs. Warburton in Wellington.
When Her Excellency, Lady Bledisloe, visited the Plunket room at the Showgrounds yesterday, there were quite a number of babies receiving attention. Her Excellency was most interested and delighted with tho work being carried out and expressed her appreciation to tho ladies in charge.
Miss Doris Murcott, wUo lost her life in the earthquake at Hastings, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Murcott, well-known in Dannovirke, and a niece of Mrs. G. Check, Palmerston Nortn. She was born in Dannevirko 26 years ago. Prior to joining the staff of Boach’s, Ltd., Hastings, Miss Murcott was employed in Palmerston North. Much sympathy is felt for her sorrowing parents and sisters and brothers. Tho funeral took place at Hastings on Friday afternoon.
Miss C. Warburton, District Commissioner, accompanied by Mrs. F. T. Vascy, Captain of First Company, Palmerston North Guides, also Miss Joyce Woodward, Lieutenant, paid a visit to the showgrounds last evening for the purpose of locating any guides from Napier and Hastings -who might be billeted in the camp. A meeting was held in the Y.M.C.A. tont and it was decided to form a company, Mrs. Vasey undertaking to continue the Guides instruction. Several of the girls mentioned that they had intended to make the trip to Wellington for tho rally and efforts will bo made to carry this out. Guides in camp desiring to attend the rally must communicate with Miss Warburton, Victoria Avenue. The Guides have arranged to givo a concert for children in camp at’ the showgrounds on Fridajr evening at 6.30 o’clock.
