ARRANGEMENTS MADE. Mr. A. J. Phillipps, general secretary of the Palmerston North Hospital has been appointed by Dr. Watts, Director General of Health, to represent the Health Department. Mr Phillipps informed the Times of some of the arrangements made to accommodate the injured. At the Palmerston North Hospital they were prepared for 80 eases, mostly acute, and others would bo drafted to other hospitals. Wanganui had offered to take up to 60, Hawera 30, Wellington had early offered room for 50 but could probably take 100 and it was understood that Taihape could arrange for 20 and Masterton 30. In addition Miss Robie had offered ten beds at Northcotc hospital and the Home of Compassion, Island Bay 15. The authorities were drafting the patients on these lines. Dr. Stout, of Wellington, is in charge of the clearing station at Waipukurau. Up till ten o'clock last evening over 50 had already been admitted to Palmerston North Hospital, all the eases being of more or less severity. A second train arrived during the Evening with Dr. Thwigge in charge, and IS injured were sent on to Wanganui as follows: — Mrs. W. Parsons, c/o Mrs. Frankish, Hatuma 8.D., Waipukurau. Miss Stewart, no fixed address.
