The local'telephone exchango is at present congested through excessive traffic. The automatic system cannot cope with more than a certain number of calls’ j)er minute. To assist in reducing this excessive traffic, subscribers are requested to make their domestic calls as few and as brief as possible during the present period in order that calls in connection with the relief of the distressed Hawke’s Bay citizens may not be unduly delayed.
