GIRL KILLED; MAN CRITICALLY INJURED

Fall off Travelling Car ■WHILE SITTING ON FOLDED HOOD Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. This morning, soon after midnight, a young woman was killed outright and a man was very seriously injured through falling from a moving car near Lowed Hutt. The girl killed was Ivy Byron, aged IS, who lived at 132 Tinakori road, Wellington. Tho man injured was Chandon Bichmoiul Batkin, aged 42, who was reported to bo in a very low condition at (i o’clock to-night. Both tho deceased girl and hor companion were sitting apparently on the turned-down hood of the car, which is a thrce-scater, perched up behind tho driver and two other people alongside him. The driver, Charles Batkin, of Clarcvillc, Mastcrton, brother of the man injured, noticed suddenly that the pair behind were no longer with them. The car was stopped and they retraced their path for some little distance, coming eventually on the victims lying on the road. The accident occurred near Nai Nai road. Whether tho two people fell through a swerve, a bump in the road, or from any other cause has not yet been determined.
