G. .V. WILD AGAIN HITS OUT PUBLIC SERVICE IN GOOD POSITION OLD BOYS DEAD UOLYTON Favoured with ideal weather conditions Feilding' cricketers had a good outing on Saturday afternoon on Kowhai park when G. V. Wild ouco more distinguished himself with the. hat when playing for Public Service against Building. Overend secured the best bowling average of three wickets for 2u runs and H. Dcwo with two for 1)2 takes the credit for stopping G. V. Wild. Feilding went into bat shortly after 5.30 p.m., opening with N. Fitzpatrick and Laing, the latter attacking the bowling from the outset. The partnership produced 411 when Laing was smartly caught and bowled by T. Amadio. Fitzpatrick was still iu with live wickets down ‘and lire scoro 65 when stumps were drawn for the day. Ooiyton met Old Boys on No. 2 wicket and batting first made 12.1, L. Whitehead and Tlmrstou doing the best scoring. Bnmwell secured (he best bowling average of throe wickets for four runs. Old Boys did not make an encouraging beginning, the opening bats, Farmer and Connell, being quickly disposed of. However, (hose who followed soon got into their stride and when stumps were drawn the team had lost eight wickets for .178, giving them a substantial lead over the country eleven on the first innings.
