Fresh Laurels for C. M. Ross Company

Tho C. M. Ross Company is to be

congratulated on its success in the window dressing competition instituted by the manufacturers of Kayser goods, Messrs Marks and Saulwick, Ltd. The

C. M. Ross Company has received ad

vice that the first prize, £SO, has been awarded to their exhibit and although tho result must be gratifying to the firm it is also a feather iu the cap of tho city and an indication that the retail shops of this centre are keeping well up with the times. A cheque for the amount, along with an accompanying letter, appears at present in one of the C. M. Ross Co.’s windows. Tile letter states that the competition was judged by an Australian and New Zealand drapery journal, and comments that the successful competitors are to be congratulated on their win, because of the very high standard of the entries. The foremost firms in New Zealand competed, the second award of £25 going to a Christchurch firm. The contest was open to tho whole of New Zealand. Tho Rosco window was dressed by Mr D. H. Cook. Apart from tho very meritorious achievement of the C. M .lloss Company, tho distinction means much to tho city. It is proof that the retail shops contribute a great deal to the business activity of the city, inasmuch as they cater so well for the people that tho latter have no desire to go further afield for their goods. They are very well looked after in this respect and are offered a range equal to anything iu New Zealand, apart from the comfort of well appointed tearooms and the like. The Kayser award is not the first of its kind that has come to tho C. M. Ross Company. Some time ago they were awarded the championship and a gold medal in a competition for window-dressing which was open to tho whole of Australia and New Zealand The manufacturers of a patent cleanor also awarded the first prize, a handsome case of cutlery, to tho firm for the best display of. their machines in New Zealand.
