The arrears was fixed at £l4O and defendant, who did not appear was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment, the warrant to bo suspended so long as the order was complied with.

At yesterday's breaking-up ceremony at the West End School a tradition which has been carried out for several years was again observed. The headmaster, Mr F. W. Moore, was presented with a bouquet by the pupils of Std 5 and a Christmas cake from the school, handed over by Madge Price, a Std. 6 prefect. Mr T. H. Attwood, teacher of Std. 6 and Mr W. J.
