Cuba Street Methodist Church Quarterly Board
The Cuba Street Methodist Church quarterly board met in the Sunday’ school hall on Thursday evening when, 4 tho Rev. J. D. McArthur (superintendent) presided over an attendance of 30 members.
The Home Mission Department wrote stating that additional subscriptions to the fund were due by January 35 when the financial year ended. The total received from the circuit to date was £2O His Id.
The Trinity College Council wrote forwarding a suggestion that the church recognise the work carried out by Dr. C. H. Laws B.A.D.D. who retires from the position of principal iu March, after distinguished and valuable service Several suggestions _as to ways anri means were submitted and it was agreed to start, a fund with mini-
mum subscriptions of Is. The chairman extended a welcomo to new members of the Board in Mrs p. J. Meller, and Misses V. Hansen and T. Hopkins. The balance sheet submitted to the meeting revealed the fin-
ancial side of the church 1° lie in a healthy condition. A special collection * for the Trust Fund to be I sen up on the anniversary Sunday, March 15, was approved. A special collection in aid of !i»o Masr.ei'foii Orphanage to lie; taken up during Gic Christmas Day service was also approved. Reports from Cuba Street, Longburn, and Cloverlea Sunday schools were received and also from the Longburn Sunbeam dub. Reports on the work of tho Bible classes were also received. The election of circuit stewards resulted in Mr I'. Coilis bcipg appointed Minister’s circuit steward and Mr A. IL Fisher, financial circuit steward. The Rev. J. D. McArthur made eulogistic reference to the work of the retiring circuit steward, Mr J. Candy.
Mr J. Minton was appointed circuit representative to the annual conference in Dunedin with Mrs C. A. E.
Ferguson as substitute. Mr A. IT. Fisher reported on the recent synod held in Feilding. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the ladies for the dainty supper provided.
