MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE

Tho Fcikling A. and P. Association met last evening, Mr. E. Burrell (president) presiding over a good attendance of members of the general committee. Letters were received from tho Gov-ernor-General regretting that prior engagements prevented him from attending the Association ’s show in February next and from the Ministers of Defence, Land and Agriculture, advising that they would be pleased to attend the sliow provided their public engagements permitted.

Tho Women’s National Reserve was granted space for a stall for the sale of goods on behalf of tho inmates of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, at the forthcoming show.

Association Conference for a ruling on ihc use of the term. Tho meeting did not support a proposal sponsored by -Mr. E. E. Short that the Association delete tho term “teg” from its show' schedule. Regarding tho transport of calves for tho Calf Club competitions, tho Feeding Bacon Coy. wrote consenting to loan a motor lorry while Messrs. Fask and Dyke intimated that they would be pleased to assist in bringing the calves to tho show but could not guarantee that their lorries would be available to return the calves.

It was announced that general entries for the show close on January loth. Ways and means of organising the labour of tho general committee who have undertaken to assist towards preparing tho grounds for tho show in order to save the show expenses, were discussed at some length when it was agreed that the senior stewards should map out their programme and meet on the ground with their assistants, ten days prior to the show. Donations were acknowledged from the following: J. Henson, £1 Is; Brainwell Bros, £2 2s; J. W. Bramwell, £1 Is and a special of £2 2s; Fcilding Law Society, £l3 13s; Longburn Freezing Co., £2 2s; Wellington Meat Export Co., £2 2s; Gear Meat Co., £3 3s; C. E. Johnston, £1 Is; J. Knight, £3 os. The meeting closed with an exchange of the festive season’s greetings.
