Miss Thompson, from Hamilton, is at present the guest of Mrs Leicester, of Tangimoanci.
Miss Betty Menzies, who has been tho guest of Mrs T. J. Rodgers, of Church street, returned to Napier yesterday.
The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society will be held in the City Council chambers this afternoon at 2.30 o ’clock.
Mrs P. Skoglund and Miss L. Skoglund, Stratford, are tho guests of Mrs C. Smith, Church street. Mr P. Skoglund and Miss M. Skoglund returned to Stratford yesterday.
Mr and Mrs Peter Skoglund, who arc holidaying in Stratford, motored through to Palmerston North on Wednesday, returning to Stratford yesterday, after attending the wedding of Mr Phillip Skoglund to Miss Smith.
The Foxton Women’s Institute, which was formed a few months ago, has early realised its responsibility to the community and at its meeting yesterday decided to give a Christmas party for the children of the town on Tuesday next in the Town hall.
The resignation of Miss A. G. Merton from the staff of the Palmerston North Girls’ High School, was accepted by the Board of Governors last evening with regret. Miss Merton has accepted a position at the Christchurch Girls’ High School. Miss J. Mcßae, of the Napier Girls’ High School, has been appointed in her place.
