Bertie dashed into the village post office just in time to catch the last post of the day, and, throwing a parcel on the counter, called for stamps. The parcel was addressed to hm fiancee, and the young man particularly wanted the present it contained, to reach her in. the morning. “Sorry," said the girl behind the counter, “but I can't send this. It isn’t scaled properly.” “Then would you mind doing it for me?” asked Bertie. “iSTo,” she replied, "wo aren’t allowed to do that.” Without another word Bertie picked up a telegraph form, and wrdte: “Sorry cannot send present. Very pretty girl at post office wont tako it because not sealed.” lie handed the telegram across the counter, and a minute later string and sealing wax were foftheoming, and the parcel caught the post.
