Education in the Melting Pot
DEFINITE DECISION AWAITED "As you know, educational philosophy and theory have been very much in the air during the past year and we have reached a stage where the schools would welcome a definite pronouncement of the shape in which this philosophy will take effect,” states an extract from the annual report of the rector of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School (Air. J. Murray). "In the realm of practical education wo as a school are immediately concerned with the need of more accommodation and educational equipment. Our town has reached the status of a city; an aim of the school is to promote useful and efficient citizenship, to the furtherance of which aim the extra accommodation and equipment I refer to is a consummation devoutly to bo wished, and hard though the times arc, we are keeping on hoping that provision will be made from next year’s education appropriation for this assistance, which wo feel is considerably overdue.”
