Foote, of Gisborne, and formerly of Palmerston North, is visiting Palmerston North as tho guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Murray, of Feathcrston street. Mrs. Foote leaves for Wellington to-day. After the final gathering l'or the year of the Citizens' Lunch Club yesterday, Mr. J. Grant (retiring president) made a small presentation to Mrs. Coates and her staff in appreciation of their services throughout the year, Mrs. Coates briefly expressing thanks. One of the outstanding association of women in tho United States is the American Home Economies Association. Its avowed purpose is to improvo conditions in the home, the institutional home, the school and the community. This association was launched by the teaching section of the first- conference on Home Economics held at Lake Placid, New York, 190 S. Last December the association was admitted to membership in the World Federation of Education Associations,
