Friendly Societies
LIND LODGE OF DRUIDS, TOKOMARU. Tho fortnightly meeting of Lind Lodge of Druids was held on Wednesday evening in the Tokomaru hall, A.D. Bro. C. Osman presiding over a large attendance. Grand President Bro. F. Jackson, District President. Bro. H. M. Carter and representatives from Shannon, Oroua and Acorn Lodges were welcomed with lodge and musical honours. Two candidates were initiated into tho Order. G.P. Bro. Jackson, assisted by D.P. Bro. Carter as Master of Ceremonies, installed the newly-elected officers into their respective chairs as follows: J.P.A., Bro. C. Osman; A.D., Sister Titcombe; Y.A., Bro Gallaway; secretary, Sister Voss: treasurer, Bro. Titcombe; 1.G., Bro. P. Gallaway; 0.G., Sister Osman; A.D.B.s, Bros. Guy and Ella; V.A.B.s, Bros. Guy and Ella; minute secretary, P.A. Sister Gallaway; pianist, Sister Atkiuson. Tho installation ceremony was unique in that 13 years ago Grand President Bro. Jackson (then District President) installed the first officers of the lodge. P.A. Sister Osman was then presented with a P.A. collar and diploma by G.P. Bro. Jackson and suitably responded. A hoarty vote of thanks was accorded G.P. Bro. Jackson for the very able manner in which he installed the officers and to D.P. Bro. Carter for acting as Master of Ceremonies. Sisters Wilson and Crook were elected delegates to the Friendly Societies’ Council. The G.P., D.P., and members of the visiting lodges returned thanks for the wlcome accorded them. The lodge then closed. A dainty supper was dispensed by the lodge stewards, following which an enjoyable dance.was held.
