Motorists in the United States have naid nearly half a million dollars in motor spirit tax in one year. New York has followed Great. Brittain’s example by making it an offence for any motorist to sound his horn for an unnecessary purpose. Accommodation for 1,090 vehicles is provided at an electric “hotel” garage recently opened in Chicago. All vehicles can bo manipulated by electric means. The famous Italian driver, Guiscppe Campari, who finished second in tho Tourist Trophy Race at Belfast, madio his debut recently in the opera “La Traviata. ” In the London Police Court recently a man was lined 7s 6d for being drank in charge of a bicycle, riding it dangerously and failing to carry a lamp. Had he been a motorist 1 It has been suggested that officers of the new mobile police force, which is to be introduced in England shortly, should bo provided with cameras in order to obtain practical evidence of dangerous driving and traffic obstruction.
A Scotch bus propridtor who was visiting the South of England, was very interested in the announcement by a local bus company that all passengers over the age of SO years would.be carried free of charge. On his return, the Scotchman had the following notice displayed on his buses:—“Patrons over SO years of age carried free of charge, if accompanied by their parents.”
