Christchurch Preparing for Power Famine
CUTTING OUT NON-ESSENTIALS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. To avoid shortago of power tho City Council decided t.o-day to cut off all street lights at midnight and under threat of more drastic curtailment shop and sign-lighting and electric displays generally are not to be used after hours.
Under a similar threat the public is required to oiscontinuo ofiice and shop radiators, domestic rediators, water heaters and non-essential house lighting.
