Builder’s Reply to Go Slow Talk
To the Editor. Sir,—ln your issue of September 2nd you published a report of the deliberations of the Palmerston North Licensing Committee, in connection with the new hotel, situate Fitzherbert avenue, Palmerston North. Comments were made which placed us, as the contractors, in a most unfavourable light with the public and we would ask you to publish the position in-so-far as we are concerned.
Tenders closed for the construction of the hotel on Jaunary 29th, 1930. Our tender was accepted early in February, and possession of the site was obtained by us on February 11th. The time limit for the construction of the building is 36 weeks, making the completion late October 27th. We expect to be completed within tho time limit, although we were held up completely for three weeks whilst negotiations for extensivo variations and additional work to the contract were in progress. Yours etc., TREVOR BROS. LTD., W. B. Bodell, Manager.
