Two More Cars Illegally Removed
Motor-cars are still being missed from parking stands in Palmerston North and two more were illegally removed yesterday. The first to bo listed as lost was a black Chevrolet 5-seater tourer (83339), the property of Mr. D. lx. Guy, of Palmerston North, which disappeared from opposite Messrs. Goldfinch and Cousins’ corner between the hours of 2 and 2.30 o'clock in the afternoon. The second loss was reported last evening, when a car, the property of Mr. B. F. Dew, of Woodville, was taken from the parking stand in Broadway. A party of seven people had come to Palmerston North to attend the theatre and at the conclusion of the performance the car had gone. It was also a 5-seater Chevrolet (84-188), coloured green and finished in black. The party were badly stranded, and did not make a start for home until after midnight. Last week the removal of private cars from the Palmerston North business area parking sections was of sj i'i frequent oceurrenco as to cause concern amongst those who pulled in at night and left their motors unlocked. A number were reported missing up to Wednesday. Then there was a cessation of operations for a week, but last night the illegal game began again. The persons making a habit of joyriding in other people’s cars are likely to strike serious trouble soon and th3y can be sure that the penalty will be a severe one. The perpetration of such acts is raiely attempted in broad daylight, and yesterday’s offence is unusual in that regard.
One Oar Recovered at Two This Morning
The police reported at 2 o'clec.k this morning that Mr. Guy’s car had been recovered in Boundary road.
