Activities of Oroua Lodge of Druids

The regular fortnightly meeting of ffio Ofwua iiOtiJo \.*' was Jicld on Tuesday, 2nd September, Str. Oppatt presiding over a large attendance of members. District President Bro. H. C. Carter paid an official visit and was welcomed with full Druidic honouis. Visitors from Otaki and Wanganui were also welcomed. Two candidates wore initiated into the Ancient Older and eight proposed for membership. An invitation to a social evening from Acorn Lodge was accepted and a goodly number of members expressed their willingness to attend. A challenge for a game of rugby was received from Wanganui and arrangements were made for a team from this Lodge to visit the river city to uphold the reputation of our young city. Str. Oppatt reported on a trip to Dannevirkc, two car loads of membeis supporting the A.D. on the journey. After Lodge closed a ping pong team from the Wharepae Club, captained by Mr K. W. Croll visited the Lodge and played an interesting round of games, the visitors proving victorious by a good margin. A game of carpet bowls was enjoyed by the members not interested over the ping pong tables. A tasty supper, served by the Sisters, concluded a very pleasant evening.
