Peanut yield at the rate of-two tons to the acre has resulted from an experimental plot laid out in peanuts in Jamaica. In consequence it is expected that a thriving new peanut industry will be launched and many acres put into cultivation for this purpose. , Rice is also receiving some attention, as both rice and peanuts are imported into the island while the two commodities might be raised at home.
