60,000 Indian Cotton Workers Idle in Bombay
TRADE DEPRESSION AND BOYCOTT. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 10 p.m. DELHI, Sept. 2. Eight more cotton mills closed down in Bombay yesterday and in the city there are now 60,000 idle mill hands. Twenty-two mills hitherto have closed as a result of trade depression which has been aggravated by the Congress ban on their products, throwing out 40,000 workers. Many other mills aro working only short time, rendering 20,000 more idle.
Police Make Haul in French Territory

Led by Sir Charles Tcgart, whoso life was recently attempted, twenty police quietly surrounded a house on tho fringe of a jungle in Chandernagore, in French territory. A lively revolver duel ended in one Bengali being killed and four arrested. Some or the latter arc alleged to have been implicated in tho Chittagong revolt. The raid was carried out with the sanction of the French authorities.
