Halcombe
From Our Own Correspondent. At a resent meeting of the Football club it was decided to hold a ball on October 1, details of which will be advertised at a later date. Mr. J. Saywell and Mr. L. Williams are acting as joint secretaries. The school committee held its fortnightly euchre and dance on Friday evening, when a record attendance spent a most enjoyable evening. Dance music was supplied by Mcsdam.es G. Burgess and R. Managh, Messrs. E. Long and O. Peterson assisting with violin and saxophone respectively. Ten tables played euchre in the cosy supper room. At tho conclusion of flic cuclire a dainty supper was served, after which dancing was resumed and the secretary (Mr. W. B. Faulding) presented the prizes and thanked all present for their patronage. Mesdames F. Saywell and Rogers tied for the ladies’ first prize, tho latter winning the play-off. Mr. Christie annexed the men’s prize, while consolation prizes were awarded Mrs. Judd and Mr. W. Hcappey. Mr. IST. Anderson was M.C. for the evening.
