Some Recent Weddings

. i ' ' BURLING—ROBERTSON At tho Rangiotu Church on Wednesday, July ■ 30, the marriage was celebrated of Thelma Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ,T. Robertson (Bainessc), and Lionel Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. G; A. Burling (Oroua Downs). Tho bride, who was given away by her father, was daintily attired in a frock of cream satin beaute with veil and orange blossoms, and sho carried a bouquet of cream roses, freesias, snowflakes and aspragus fern, with long streamers of cream ribbon. Miss Mavis Robertson, sister of the bride, was chief bridesmaid, and she wore .a frock of blush pink crepe do chino with a hair band to tone, ancl carried a bouquet of pink roses, Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern, with pink streamers. Miss Vera Robertson was also in attendance, wearing a frock of pale green crepe de chino, with a head band to tone, and carrying a bouquet of pink roses, primroses and maidenhair fern, with green streamers. Mr. Alex Gates, nephew, of the bridegroom, was the best man, and Mr. Cyril Burling, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. Tho officiating clergyman was the Rev., Mr. Grundy. At.the reception which followed in the Rangiotu hall, about 120 guests were entertained at a dainty repast provided by the Broadway Lounge. The usual toasts were honoured and congratulations offered. Lovely pink blossom and autumn leaves were artistically used to decorate the ball. Mrs. Robertson received ber guests in a frock of black silk maroeain; her bouquet was composed of violets. Mrs, Burling, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black silk froek and carried a posy of violets. A social evening with dancing followed. During the latter part of tho evening the happy couple left on their honeymoon for tho north, tho bride travelling in a smart costume of brown with a tangerine hat. The bridegroom’s present to the brido was an opal ring, to tho chief bridesmaid a dress ring and to tho other bridesmaid a signet ring. KEMBALL —DENSON. A recent wedding solemnised at St. John’s Church, Wellington, was that of Winifred Maule, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Den3on, Wellington (late of Palmerston North), to Frederick John, son of Mr and Mrs W. R. Cembali,. ‘Wellington. The Rev. J. Blanchard officiated. The bride was escorted by her father, and wore a dainty ankle-length frock of cream mariette and lace. Her tulle veil was worn with a halo-wreath of orange blossoms, and her shower bouquet was of pink and white. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Rosina Denson, was attired in a pink 'mariette fish-net anklelength frock, and wore a felt hat to tone. Miss Ivy Cembali, who also assisted the bride, wore a blue frock. They both wore pink and blue rhinestone necklaces, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr W. R, Cembali, junr., car Tied out the duties of best man and was assisted by Mr J. Foot. The breakfast was held subsequently when the guests were received by the parents of the bride and bridegroom. A very enjoyable' evening was spent by those present. The bride and bridegroom left by car for a tour of the North Island.

ROSSER—LOADER.

St. Peter’s Church, Gonville, Wanganui, was the scene of a pretty wedding on the evening of July 31, when Ivy Doreen, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Loader, 50 Liffiton street, Wanganui, was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Cecil, youngest son of Mr and Mrs D. Bosser, 35 Halswell street, Wanganui. The Bev. D. B. Malcolm was the officiating minister. The bride, who was given away her father, was charmingly attired in a gown of white crepe de chine with uneven hem, decorated with brilliants, with silver shoes and stockings to match. She wore the orthodox veil with

a coronet of orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of’artificial roses with white satiu streamers. Miss Gwendoline Loader was in attendance as bridesmaid, her frock being salmon pink satinetto with four peaks, a buckle of brilliants in the centre of a bow on the hip while a posy of flowers hung from tho right shoulder. A Juliet mob cap of silver laee with pink ribbon, and pink shoes and stockings were dainty accessories to her toilette. Mr J. Rosser, brother of tho bridegroom, acted in the capacity of best man. After tho ceremony about 50 guest? were entertained at a reception in St. Peter’s hall, where tho usual toatst and speeches were made. Mrs D. Loader, mother of the bride, wore a frock of ring figured velvet with flared skirt completed with a frontal waterfall. Her hat was in becoming tones to match with tho frock. Mrs Rosser, mother of the bridegroom, wore a moire brown frock with hat to match. Later in the evening Mr and Mrs Cecil Rosser left for their home in Palmerston • North, the latter being in figured velvet with brown hat. Among the guests at tho reception were Mr and Mrs W. H. Loader, Mr and Mrs R. Loader, and Mr and Mrs A. E. Loader, Messrs A. J. and B. Loader, Mr W. Kay, Mr and Mrs A. Loader (Napier), Mr and Mrs Stock (Napier), Mr and Mrs Skillon, Mrs and Miss Ashby, Mr and Mrs Winton, Mr and Airs G.' Young, Airs Ivnegge, Misses A. and E. Rosser, N. Sharp, Air and Airs Luff, Aliss R. Guthrie, Aliss Thomson and many others.

THACKER—REES. On July 30th at All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, a pretty wedding was selemnised, when Florence Alay, daughter of Air W. J. Rees, of Bunnythorpe, was married to Robert James, son of Air and Airs W. A. Thacker, of Bunnythorpc. Tho bride, who was given away by ber father, wore a charming frock of Celanese satin, trimmed with rosettes and sequins. Her beautiful veil of Brussels net was caught at each side of the head with orange, blossom and fell to form a train. She wore silver shoes and stockings to tone, and carried a lovely shower bouquet of Toses and maiden hair fern. Miss Stella Thacker, sister of the bridegroom, was chief bridesmaid, and she wore a pretty frock of apricot crepe de chine, with silver shoes and stockings. Her bouquet was of flowers to' tone with her frock. Little Irene Rees, niece of the bride, was train bearer, wearing a dress of pink frilled net with pink socks and black shoes. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr AL Thomas, ef Bunnythorpe, a friend of the bridegroom. The ceremony was performed by tlie Rev. Canon G. Y. Woodward. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Broadway Lounge, where the usual toasts were honoured. The happy couple were the recipients of many handsome and yaluable presents, including several cheques. Air and Airs Thacker journeyed north, the bride wearing a brown costume with hat, shoes and stockings to match.
