Sir Edwin Lutyens, who returned to England from America lately, described his conception of the new Roman Catholic Cathedral at Liverpool, for which he is about to begin the plans, l’li* building is to bo of Renaissance architecture, ho said, thus contrasting and not competing with the Anglican Cathedral. The great problem which had to bo solved was how to ensure that a congregation of 10,000 would be able to sec the high altar. The cathedral was to have a huge dome lGSft. in diameter as compared with tho diameter of 105 ft. of the dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral. In all probability the cathedral would take 20 years to complete
