Brown, who admitted tho offence, was fined-10/-« The driver of an unregistered vehicle, H. N. Wilson, was fined £l, with costs of a similar amount, while leaving her car parked for longer than 20 minute:) on a temporary, stand cost A. Wason 30/-, with costs 30/-. . j Driving without a license resulted iii C.-McMickan being" fined I<VS with costs 10/*, while failure to keep on the correct- side of a traffic dome cost tho same motorist £l, with 10/- costs. Kenneth Raymond Hill, for failing to sound the horn of a car when turning a corner, was lined 10/-, with 10/costs, Senior-Sergeant Whit.ohouso stating that defendant had ‘ knocked down and injured a pedestrian. Fines of 10/-, with costs of an equal amount, were imposed on H. Oliver, R, R. Barnes and D. T. Dilks for parking their vehicles within six feet of a firo plug. Riding cycles after dark without lights resulted in A. Max, G. Booker, M. Mcßcan, L. J. Cockery and H. Brookfield being fined 10/-, witli 10/costs, while A. Langston, for a similar offence, was fined 10/-, with 3/- costs. In a case where V. M. Lockwood was charged with failing to notify a change in the ownership of a motor car at Shannon on December 12, the Magistrate commented that the Palmerston North firm which handled the deal was moro to blame and defendant was accordingly only ordered to pay tho cost of the action, amounting to 325. Remand Granted. Charged -with the theft, at Bulls in July, of £3, Hector Donald Dawson, aged 23 years, was remanded for a week on the application of Senior-Detective Quirkc, who intimated that further charges were pending. False Pretences. Victor Riley, a labourer, 21 years of age, appeared on a charge of false pretences. It was alleged that accused procured £lO by a false representation that a cheque for £l3, dated Juno 1, 1930, and drawn on the Bank of New Zealand at Elect,aliuna, was a good and valid order for the amount. Accused pleaded guilty, Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse stating that Riley had been under the care of the State ever since he came to the Dominion from England in 1909. Receiving a cheque for £3 he had altered it to £3 3; The Magistrate made an order for accused to be returned to the Weraroa training farm and to make restitution of £lO.
