“love Lies” and “So This is Love”

The box plans will be opened this morning at 9 o’clock for the approaching J. C. Williamson, Ltd., musical com. edy season, which begins on Wednesday next at the Ojera House, when will bo staged for the first time here the brilliant London Gaiety Theatre musical comedy triumph, “Love Lies’’ and “Sc This is Love,” which have just completed record runs in Sydney. The opening might is full of interest, as in addition to signalising the first appearance here is a number of London artists, including Betty Eicy, Bobby Gordon and Michael Cole, it will also witness the reappearance of tho very popular and very humorous comedian, Clem Dawe, who will make his debut in musical comedy here. In the past we have enjoyed Mr. Dawc's genius for creating humour in pantomime and revues, but ho is now appearing in legitimate plays and judging by reports from Australia the talented artist takes full advantage of the genuine comedy attached to the character of Jerry Walker, which was portrayed in London by Stanley Lupine. Marie Eaton, Paul Plunkett, Dan Agar, Les. White, Mona Barlee, Katherine Stewart and Eric Edgley have all appeared here on former occasions and they will all be welcomed on Wednesday next. “Love Lies” is packed with humorous comedy scenes, and it unfolds n. very interesting love romance, delightful musical numbers, exquisite ballets, dazzling ensembles. There is one young man in the play who is anxious to get married, but his uncle objects, since it would ruin his career as an artist. He marries just the same. A second young man, satisfied with his liberty, is* being almost forced by his undo to take a wife and with tho cussedness of human nature he will havo none of it, and finally there enter the rlamby parnby couple, an heiress mas. querading as a poor girl, and the young man as a real live lord. One can easily imagine what happens when the young men meet at the artist’s studio, the girls follow and the uncles and the lord arrive in turn. The dancing of tho brilliant Australian ballet girls is a feature of the production and so is tho big specialty dance executed by Mona Zeppe! and John Robertson. The full operatic orchestra is under the direction of Gregory Ivanoff. Plans arc at Central Booking Oflico, Broadway.
