Progress of Children at Schools for the Deaf

WELLINGTON, July 31. During a recent visit to Christchurch the Eon. H. Atmorc, Minister of Education, visited Sumner in company with Mr. J. McCombs, M.P., for the purpose of inspecting the School for the Deaf. Ho gave a short address, describing a trip over the Southern Alps. The children were able to follow the address by lip reading, and showed a very high standard of intelligence. Realising that the education of tho children would be facilitated by the introduction of a moving picture machine with films on selected subjects, the Minister ha! given instructions that suitable apparatus be supplied.
