Decrease in Week’s Unemployment Figures
WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. There were a decrease of 249 on the previous week in the number of unemployed registered in New Zealand for the week ended last Monday,, according to a statement to the Minister of Labour, Hon. S. G. Smith, yesterday. The week’s total was 5360, and the details of registration at labour bureaux and post offices are as follow:
The total for the five centres (withthe figures for the previous week in parentheses) are as follow: Auckland, 1220 (1413); Wellington, 766 (756); Christchurch, 014 (960); Dunedin, 422 (414); Invercargill, 157 (147).
