Tokomaru
From Our Own Correspondent. Mrs. Jewel, of To Horo, wlio has been spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. J. Wells, returned home on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. T. Drake left the district last week for Palmerston Worth, where they will reside permanently. The results of the weekly sho&t held by. the Tokomaru Miniature Rifle Club are as follow:—First shoot (a practice match): L. K, Whyte (61) and X. J. Whyte (61), tied for first place. In the first handicap sweep, S. Gyde (20), A". Williams (10) and J. Liggins (8), each with a score of 70, tied for iirst place. In the shoot off the positions were: S. Gyde 1, J. Liggins 2, A. Williams 3. Second handicap sweep: N. J. Whyte (4), 69, 1; L. R. Whyte (4), 66, 2; S. Gyde (10), 65, and A. Williams (S), 65, equal 3. . A successful euchre and dance was held in the hall on Tuesday evening, under the auspices of the Tokomaru School Committee. There was a large attendance and' a most enjoyable time was spent. Euchre prizes were won by Mrs. J. Seliwass and Mr. E. J. Gilmour, consolation prizes going to Mrs. J. Wells and Mr. X. Mabey. Mrs. Sehwass very kindly handed, her prize back to the committee for further competition. As the result of two guessing competitions, Mrs. Watson was the winner ot a dressed sheep, while Mr. J. Dalziell won a cushion. Music was supplied by a professional orchestra and Mr. R. Bayliss was a capable M.C. The school children’s annual fancy dress ball is to be held in the hall on August 15. The children will have the floor until 10 o ’clock, when the adults will take it to the finish. Music for both children and adults will be supplied by a professional orchestra.
