Harrier Club is Formed in Palmerston

An enthusiastic meeting of those interested in the formation of a Harrier Club in Palmerston North was held in the Commerce Chambers last evening. Mr. N. C. Dixon occupied the chair and Mr. L. A. Couch acted as secretary. Mr. V. Spackman was elected captain to conduct the first run. It was decided to hold a practice run on the 15th inst., meeting on the Sportsground at 10 p.m. The course will be over the Pitzhcrbert district. Members were urged to get into training as early as possible with a view to entering a strong team to compete at the provincial championships in August at Wellington. It was decided to extend a cordial invitation to all members of local sports bodies to participate in the practice ran on the loth inst. A meeting for the purpose of electing officers of the club will be held in the Chamber of Commerce buildings, Broadway, on Tuesday, 24th inst., at 7.45 p.m.
