During the later years of this country’s development, the fanners who more than any other class, have it in their hands, have been realising to an over increasing degree that with them as with any other producing body, unity is strength. One of the loremost protagonists of this idea in the Manawatu district has been Neil Campbell, president for a number of years of the Manawatu branch of the Dairy Farmers’ Union, Neil Campbell has been associated with practically every progressive farming association in the district and no man in New Zealand has had his hand more surely on the pulse of farmers’ politics. Son of a pioneering family, he was born, bred and educated in tire Awanuri district where he has farmed ever since he struck out for himself. Ilis father was one of the founders of the Awaliuri Dairy Company and when he died 22 years ago, his son Neil took his place on the board of directors. For tho past three years Neil Campbell has occupied the presidential chair of the company, and its flourishing condition is evidence of the care which he has given to his office. In his younger days, Neil Campbell played Rugby football with the best of the province and captained a junior represenative team which toured vVairarapa and Wellington,
Lord and Lady Bledisloe arrived in New Plymouth last night and were accorded a warm welcome by a large assembly at the civic reception. Lord Bledisloe will attend the Winter Show to-day. Then he will visit other Taranaki towns aud Mount Egrnont and depart on Saturday.
