SATURDAY’S ATTRACTIONS
AT THE KOSY. Marie Provost’s latest comedy drama "On the Bono” is one of the featured attractions at this popular silent house, which will show for three nights commencing on Saturday. Emil Jannings Triumphs in Latest film. Portraying a character that every theatre-goer can understand and sympathise with, Emil Jannings scored another tremendous triumph in his latest Paramount starring picture, “Sins Of the Fathers.” As a German-Amori-can, Jannings is ideally cast for the port that he portrays. The film is showing at the Kosy theatre on Saturday next. In “Sins of the Fathers” Jannings plays the role of Wilhelm Spongier, a German-American waiter and saloon keeper, who becomes a fabulously wealthy bootlegger only to have his life crash around his shoulders, bringing him in the end to his original Status. In the leading feminine role is Ruth Chatterton, the famous star of the legitimate stage, who makes her screen debut in this picture. Her role is thoroughly an unsympathetic one, but one which will serve to introduce her to screen audiences under the best of auspices. Also featured in support of Jannings is young Barry -Norton, who- gained
fame in “What Price Glory,” as the baby-faced soldier. His role is that of Jannings’ son. Others in the cast who help to elevate the picture to a high dramatic level through their performances arc ZaSu Pitts, called by Erich von Stroheim, the star-director of “The Wedding March,” the greatest tragedienne on the screen to-day; Matthew Betz, Jack Luden, Jean Arthur, Harry Cording, Arthur Housman and Frank Rcichcr.

She had been playing secondary leads in legitimate musical road troupes, and came right in to a starring role in pictures, winning out against many old-timers. Betty Compson lias signed a new long term contract with. K.K.O. studios, which calls for threo feature productions on the 1930-31 schedule. She has one more picture to finish on her present contract. Miss Compson. played the leading role in .“Street Girl,” R.K.O.’s first production made in Hollywood, She also appeared to advantage in “The Case of Sergeant, Grisclui” and “Hawk Island.’-.
