The latter and Charmaino were the first to show out, and led on to the course proper from Gesture, Chrysology and Lineage. Gesture asserted liersclf on the rails when headod for homo and soon settled Spoon, and . won handsomely by three lengths. Spoon tired in the last' few strides and Charmaino wore her down to' beat her by a length for second honours. Chrysology, which also failed to run on, was next, and then came Sir Limond, Lineago and Jayson.

Great Race for Great Easter

Tho Great Easter provided a thrilling contest, the favourite division being well placed at tho finish. Hirst Sight, Panther and Arikiwar were the slowest to find their feet. After a furlong had been traversed, Meadow Lark showed out from Rin Tin Tin, Gay Orest, Great Charter, Groat Star, Red Heckle and Royal Duke, with First Sight tailing the field. Meadow Lark retired at the straight entrance and Great Charter was tho first to turn for home, closely • attended by Meadow Lark, Great Star, Red Heckle and Panther, with-First Sight making a forward move on the outside. The field bunched at tho distance, but Great Charter was always going easily and, although seriously challenged by First Sight, ho was able to maintain his position to beat the latter by half a iength. Red Heckle was only a neck away, with a similar margin to Panther, and then in close order came Ari* kiwai, Gay Crest, Money Mine, Meadow Lark and Rin Tin Tin, with Greenaway and Great Star the last to finish.

Half way down tho straight Manifesto challenged tho leaders and in a great finish got up to beat Brown Sugar by a head, with Abbey Queen a length away third. Clovne was right up fourth. In tho Purimu Hack, six furlongs, K"ing Manu, which drew the rails, began smartly from Nahi and Tahoma with Royal Court at the head of tho others.
