Referees to be Upheld in Disputed Decisions
TOO MANY SIDE-LINE PLAYERS
"Its like trying to make bricks without sufficient straw," said Mr. J. C. Zoung, chairman of tho executive of tho Manawatu Football Association last evening, when referring to a complaint lodged by tho Rangers Chib against referees who were allotted tho whistle but -did not put in an appearance. ' Great difficulty was often experienced in obtaining tho services of competent referees at times and the chairman was strongly of tho opinion that a referees’ association should be inaugurated, this to bo put on an organised basis with a controlling head. In many cases uncalled-for remarks by a section of the gallery often deterred tho men with the whistle from consenting to carry on. In cases where discussions and dissension arose over inch 'Unwarranted barracking, Mr. Young thought that the executive should uphold tho referee's side of the question. On his motion, it was resolved to call a mooting of present referees, together with those nominated, in an effort to place them in the position of an organised body.
