NEW PLYMOUTH TO ONEHUNGA. PASSENGERS PREFER MOTOR TO STEAMSHIP. . Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Tho mail and passenger service, provided by the Northern Steamship Coy., between Onehunga and New Plymouth for about 50 years, is to be abandoned oit May 3. Tho steamer Ngapuhi is to be withdrawn and in future tho company will run a cargo service only. This decision is duo to a decrease in passenger trallie owing to the increased use of motor tiansport. This is the third coastal passenger run to be aba-doned by the Northern Company in ino last three and a-half years.
