GINGER OAKE WITHOUT EGGS i Quarter-pound butter, two’ breakfast cups flour, one breakfast cup sugar, pinch salt, ono tablespoon ground ginger, two tablespoons golden syrup, ono teaspoon bicarbonate soda, three-quarters breakfast cup milk. Mix flour, sugar, salt and ground ginger. Put golden syrup and butter in saucepan, and when melted add milk and soda, then pour on to dry ingredients. ■ Bake in -a slow oven-one hour. This c*ko keeps a long time and Js also nice made with lard instead of butter. *
