ANNUAL BASTES ME WttOIQ. The ahnual Easter meeting of the Papatawa Sports Club was held in Air W. Cunhingham’s ground at Papatawa yesterday. The weather in the early morning Was not promising but conditions had improved before the commencement of the day's events and a large crowd of j local resident# and visitors accorded the club its patronage. Thfl’ Weodville Boys' Band under the conductorship of Mr F. Lawn, was in attendance. Horse events were judged by Mr G. Peebles and the athletic events by Messrs X M, Hutchinson, C. F. Baker and X George. The starter’s duties were carried 'out by Mr Bt. Mexted. The secretary’s department was administered by Mr E. X Harding with the assistance of Messrs W. X Hutchinson and E. Adams 2. A Bad Pall. While taking part in the open hunters’ competition at tho Papatawa sports yesterday Miss M. Benton’s horse “Bonny”y stumbled when approaching a hurdle, made a faulty jump and fell, throwing Aliss Benton heavily. The horse fell . immediately behind the young lady, striking her in its fall. Miss Benton, who was rendered unconscious through shock and concussion was fortunate in escaping more serious injury. Dr. N. Mules was summoned,. and Miss Benton was later driven to tho doctor’s residence.
