Old-World Wheat Growers Fear Power of New World
UNITED ACTION URGED. United Press Association.— By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m. PRAGUE, April 10. ' Doctor Hozda, president of the International Agrarian Bureau; has urged united action by all agrarians against Canadian y and Argentine i wheat production. It is stated he will shortly summon the Agrarian leaders ■vrho will meet at Geneva in an attempt to persuade them to agree to united action against the new world with a European establishment of uniform tariffs against Canada, America and Argentine, which will be valid for five years. Russia has not been included.
Dr.ought Brings About Desired Reduction Received Sunday, 11 pmi. NEW YORK, April 20. The New York-Times correspondemt in Kansas City states that tho driest March in Kansas for 43 years with the exception of 1919 has accomplished the reduction of wheat acreage so long urged by Mr. Legge (chairman of the New farmers finance board) in the great hard wheat belt where there has been no appreciable moisture since November. Heavy inroads have been made into the acreage and some of the large producing counties report a 25 per cent loss through drought and hot winds. -s' ' The loss has been so heavy that despite the increased acreage which went into Wheat last autumn the crop may fall below normal.
