RANGITIKEI ONE FOR U IN SECOND STRIKE

The weather was gloriously fine for the resumption of the Hawke Oup cricket match, Manawatu versus Bangitikei on tho fcSportsground yesterday, ilauawatu continued its innings and compiled 295, leaving Eangitikei 118 to make, to wipe off tho first innings deficit. Gallichan with 63 top-scored for Manawatu, McVicar 53, Ongley junior 50, and Pacey 48 also played good cricket, Smith, the Bangitikei captain, bowled well, taking four wickets for 110 runs, and bowling 37 overs, 11 of which wero maidens. Hoddcr two for 33 and Barton two for 3S were also effective with the leather. At the close of tho day’s play the challongers had one wicket down for 64 runs. Messrs. Greer (Palmerston North) and Cave (Wanganui) acted as umpires.

Manawatu Batting. Pacey 28 and McVicar 19, resumed for Manawatu in the morning, the latter facing the bowling of Staples.
