Woodville

DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL From Our Own Correspondent. The monthly meeting of the Woodvillo District High School committee was held in the school on Monday evening. There were present Messrs. S. Turnbull (ehairman), Rose, Graham, Sinclair and Keay. The headmaster was also in attendance. An apology was received from Mr. H. Coston. The headmaster reported as follows: Average attendance, Primary . 334.5, secondary 56.6. The banner, medals and prizes for the Tecent school sports had been presented by the Hon. H. Atmore, who also declared tho new portion of the high school open. The headmaster also asked that various repairs be attonded to. A resolution was passed, thanking a)l those who assisted with the school picnic at Paekakariki. It was decided to write to the Railway Department, objecting to the department holding up the excursion train on the return journey at Ashhurst. Aoeounts amounting to £ll 17/f were passed for payment.

INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES The monthly meeting of the Hope of Woodville Tent was held on Monday evening. Bro. J. M. Worboys presided over a large attendance of members. Four candidates were admitted to tho order and three persons wore proposed for membership. After the usual business, the meeting was closed and members indulged in cards and games, and partook of supper before dispersing.

PERSONAL Mr. E. H. Giles, Woodville, has left on a motor tour of the North. Mr. and Mrs. L. Vickers,. of St. Heliers, Auckland, are visitors to Woodville.
